Since the beginning of the year, both our girls and boys school football teams were straight back into action and have been performing very well.

Boys

The boys team have won all their round matches so far and are currently waiting to play their championship quarter final in Roinn B.

They also had a good run in the Country Cup also winning but were recently defeated by Danesfort.

Girls

Our girls team had mixed performances during the round matches in the Roinn B championship with two wins and two losses. With steady improvement they had a great win over Kilmanagh in the quarter final and will play Graiguenemanagh on Friday the 8th November in the semi final.

Great win by our girls!

Congratulations and well done to our girls football team who won the Roinn D county Football final.  The match was played in Freshford and the team were very well supported.

Our girls got off to a slow start and Conahy scored 2 early goals, however after that Coon/Muckalee played some terrific football and worked brilliantly as a team.  At the break, we were ahead and continued the second half in similar style.  Coming toward the end of the match, we were 5 points up and the win looked secure but Conahy scored 2 goals from frees and it looked like the final was to end in disappointment.  However our girls proved what a terrific team they are, working the ball up the field where a free – from quite a distance out – was slammed to the back of the net to give us a one point lead.  A further point secured victory for Coon/Muckalee and massive celebrations followed.

Well done to the entire team and our 6th, 5th and 4th class girls.  Congratulations also to Ms Marie Butler for all the hard work that she has put into the team.
