Green Schools

We were awarded our second green flag in May 2012. The focus for this green flag was “Energy”. We cut down on our energy consumption in the school by turning off lights and switches and closing doors to keep in the heat. We had an “Energy Action Day” where some local people came in and spoke to us about electricity in days gone by. Our two sixth class girls travelled to Cork with Mrs Brennan and Mrs Stokes to collect the flag. The whole school and community joined together in June to celebrate our achievements.

We  St Brigid’s National School, Coon was delighted to be awarded their first Green Flag in June 2010.  We are currently in the process of applying for our Green Flag renewal under the topic of “Energy”.
